27 JUNE we slept until noon!

IMG_3981So we are finally getting settled into our home here in Molinella.  Our friends Diamanti Gallina and Giuseppe Tortorelli treated us all to Pizza just down the street from the house.  Each person a pizza! as is the way here.  Thin crust pizza, simple & fresh toppings, baked in wood fired oven… nothing like Holdenville Pizza Hut, or even Casey’s Pizza from the gas station.   There is no shortage of Gelato, Espresso, Pizza, or kindness here in Molinella.  Around the corner is the grocery store, maybe a block away, which is an experience in itself.

IMG_3971Here is the babyfood isle, the Italians all love Parmigiano Reggiano  &Prosciutto di Parma, notice the same name… Parma, the town and region famous around the world for its ham & cheese, so much so that here you can see ham & cheese baby food.  Start them young!  Of course, the Prosciutto & Parmigiano is fantastic, but Italians all seem to have a special place or way to have each.

Diamanti’s family, has kindly allowed us to stay in their family home, the home of Dimananti’s Grandma and Grandpa.  Her Grandfather had a salami shop adjacent to the home, which is a very important thing in Italy, like most things good to eat there is art, tradition, and care given to it.  In a fashion that I like much, the shop is part of the home, so a short commute.  A very beautiful, peaceful, pleasant place to be, like a movie or dream for American’s.  we are blessed.

close to the sea are we
close to the sea are we
For pizza last night, I had the zucchini w/shrimp, as we are not far from the sea, and the seafood is also good here.  Yes, I ate the whole thing… normally we would maybe split 3 like this.

So now we need to go back to Venezia to collect Ava’s luggage.  The airline has not called, but it was scheduled to come last night from Frankfurt, and it is not so far away, at least not for us just an hour and a half maximum drive.  Then tomorrow we go to see our friends play jazz music for our companies basketball team’s end of season party in a town nearby.  The girls will dance if we can get Ava’s luggage, if not, we do our best without tap shoes.   It is good to have such good friends in Italy, and it is a very warm culture, people have been so patient with us, and kindness is plentiful here.

  1. June 27, not July?! I was starting to get concerned with the multiple days and no update! Glad you have settled in!
